Patrick Brammall landed his breakthrough role as a Hollywood leading man in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Deadline reported in July 2025 that Brammall had joined the long-awaited sequel as a new love interest for Anne Hathaway’s Runway magazine underling-turned-fashion superstar Andy Sachs, since Adrian Grenier will not be returning to reprise his role as Andy’s ex-boyfriend Nate Cooper.
While The Devil Wears Prada 2 will unquestionably be Brammall’s biggest movie role to date, he has been working steadily in his native Australia for 21 years. Disney+ subscribers with young kids may already be familiar with him as he’s a recurring voice actor on the animated sensation Bluey.
Away from screens, Brammall is part of a powerhouse acting couple in Australia, as he married The Invisible Man actress Harriet Dyer in 2021. Together, they created the Paramount+ streaming romantic comedy series Colin from Accounts in 2022.

The news that a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is in the works has sent a ripple of excitement and panic through social media, almost as if Miranda Priestly herself is about to enter the room but somebody’s forgotten to correctly position the San Pellegrino. Power Couple
It remains to be seen whether Brammall’s Devil Wears Prada 2 character and Andy Sachs will be a true power couple in the sequel, but he’s part of a dynamic duo with Dyer in real life.
After a first marriage to Samantha Nield from 2013 to 2017, he tied the knot with Dyer in March 2021. Dyer and Brammall share two daughters: Joni Jane Brooklyn, born September 2021, and Mabel, born February 2025.
During an interview on The Talk in 2024, Dyer and Brammall addressed how they balanced their family responsibilities with writing, producing and starring together in Colin from Accounts.

“On a good day, it’s like, ‘Woohoo, your husband’s at work with you’ and, on a bad day, it’s like, ‘Wow … my husband’s at work with me. Why is he here?’” Dyer teased.
Brammall then quipped, “I’m just happy to be here, honestly.”
The couple agreed that “creatively” they worked “great” together because they saved most of their disagreements for “the kitchen and the living room.”
“We’re really kind of like one mind with the writing and producing, it’s really kind of weird,” Dyer explained. “When it comes to, ‘my toast is cold,’ then we’re in trouble.”
20-Year Career
Brammall kickstarted his career in the 2004 Australian TV movie The Alice and later reprised his role on the spinoff series of the same name. He won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Performance in a Television Comedy in 2013 for his supporting part in the festive limited series A Moody Christmas.
He eventually won a second AACTA Award for Best Performance in a Television Comedy for his depiction of a disgraced detective in No Activity, which aired between 2015 and 2018. It wasn’t long before Hollywood came calling, with Brammall being cast in New Girl, Evil and upcoming Apple TV+ series The Dispatcher.
Brammall and his wife, Dyer, created and starred in the Paramount+ rom-com Colin from Accounts, about coworkers coming together to care for an injured dog after a car accident. Paramount+ and Australian partner Binge announced in April 2025 that Colin from Accounts would return for a third season.
Soap Experience
Brammall followed one of the most successful pipelines to Hollywood with a recurring role on the long-running soap Home and Away in 2007. He joined the show as Aussie soap vixen Kelli Vale’s (Alexa Ashton) bumbling boyfriend, Ethan Black, for an extended story line before leaving the soap in 2008.
Home and Away is a TV institution in Australia, helming the careers of megastars such as Chris Hemsworth, Heath Ledger and Naomi Watts since its 1988 premiere. Brammall later jokingly told Sydney Morning Herald that Home and Away was indeed like “a conveyor belt,” but must have been “the slowest one in history” in his case.

Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt’s The Devil Wears Prada characters didn’t get off to a good start in the 2006 film, but off camera their connection was undeniable. “Did we meet before the table read?” Blunt, who portrayed lead assistant Emily in the fashion-themed movie, asked Hathaway, 41, during their reunion for the Wednesday, December […]
“I did a few months on Home and Away in 2007 but was never part of the core cast,” he recalled. “I certainly didn’t come over here [to America] as a hunky leading man; that’s not my type.”
Brammall added, “Some young actors on Home and Away and Neighbours have really good heads on their shoulders, know exactly what they want to do, and are in L.A. by their 20s. I wouldn’t have had the wherewithal; I wouldn’t have been able to handle myself in this town before now.”
Bluey’s Uncle
The Devil Wears Prada 2 may be Brammall’s introduction to most adults, but kids all around the world are probably already familiar with him due to his recurring role on Bluey.
Brammall has lent his voice to three episodes of the adorable animated series about an energetic Blue Heeler puppy and her family, playing Bluey’s Uncle Radley. The actor even had practice for his casting as Andy’s love interest The Devil Wears Prada 2 with a romantic Bluey story line where Uncle Rad married his longtime girlfriend, Frisky (Claudia O’Doherty).
Brammall credited Bluey with helping him become “a more generous parent” to his daughters, Joni and Mabel.
“It’s all about kids learning stuff through play,” he pointed out in April 2025. “It reminds me to be more generous as a parent, more willing to say yes when they want to play. [Bluey’s dad] Bandit will say yes, whether he’s asleep on the couch or watching the cricket or got work to do. He’s a good reminder to be fun.”
The star even admitted, “I’ve never been more porous. Look, we’re emotional creatures, and I didn’t mind a cry beforehand, but now I’ll just go to the water over anything. Many is the time that I’ll be sobbing away in front of Bluey. Parenting breaks you in a really beautiful way, and I’m glad I’m doing it.”
Big Screen Hunk
Brammall may not have seen himself as the “hunky leading man” during his time on Home and Away, yet he was still picked for a coveted role as Hathaway’s love interest in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Little is known about the plot of the sequel, though Brammall’s introduction is a significant change right off the bat since Andy broke things off with self-centered chef Nate (Grenier) in the 2006 original. The Hollywood Reporter revealed in July 2025 that Grenier wouldn’t be returning alongside Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.
