Taylor Swift shared juicy new details regarding her upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, during her “New Heights” podcast debut.
The pop superstar, 35, revealed the official release date for the record — Friday, October 3 — while discussing the project with boyfriend Travis Kelce and his cohost brother, Jason Kelce, during the Wednesday, August 13, episode of their show.
“It was something that I was working on while I was in Europe on the Eras Tour. I just love it. I just love it a lot,” Swift said of the record. “I love music.”
The singer noted that she would fly to Sweden amid tour breaks to record. “Working on this, I was physically exhausted, at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating,” she added.
Swift also unveiled the album cover via her website on Wednesday, which includes The Life of a Showgirl: Sweat and Vanilla Perfume portofino orange glitter vinyl option, the CD with poster and the cassette versions. There are three additional color options — It’s Frightening (red), It’s Rapturous (purple) and It’s Beautiful (silver).
The musician shared the track list as well, which includes 12 new songs (for her 12th album, of course), starting with “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Opalite,” “Father Figure” and “Eldest Daughter.”
The rest of the tracks are, “Ruin the Friendship,” “Actually Romantic,” “Wi$h Li$t,” “Wood,” “Cancelled!,” “Honey” and “The Life of a Showgirl” featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
Earlier this week, Swift announced her 12th album was in the works in a clip from her “New Heights” appearance.
“So I wanted to show you something,” she told Travis, 35, and Jason, 37, in the footage shared via social media on Tuesday, April 12.
Swift then opened a green case with her initials on it in orange font and took out her upcoming record, the cover of which had been blurred out.
“This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl,” she said.
The record immediately went up for preorder on Swift’s website, despite the release date and cover art remaining a mystery. (At the time, the site noted that physical copies would ship before October 13.)
The day prior to Swift’s announcement, fans speculated news about her 12th album was imminent due to several major — and not-so-major — clues.
Taylor Nation — Swift’s inhouse social media marketing team — posted a series of photos via Instagram on Monday, August 11, showing the singer in various orange costumes on stage during her history-making Eras Tour.
“Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’ ❤️🔥,” the caption read.
Soon after the tease, Swift’s website launched a countdown that expired on August 12 at 12:12 a.m. ET, at which time she announced The Life of a Showgirl.
