Plastic surgeons have weighed in on Selena Gomez‘s look after the newlywed was engulfed in rhinoplasty speculation.
The singer and actress, 33, has been in the spotlight since she was a child but some fans recently began theorizing that she may have undergone a subtle cosmetic procedure after noticing a change in her nose.
Cosmetic experts have since analyzed photos of Gomez throughout the years to theorize about the surgeries she may have had.
Dr. Rian Maerckstold the Royalehe thinks the Only Murders In The Building star appears to have undergone a ‘well-executed rhinoplasty.’
‘Her earlier nasal architecture featured more widely splayed nasal bones and a softly broad mid-vault – features that gave her face a naturally open, balanced quality,’ he explained.
The expert, who has not treated Gomez himself, explained that in more recent images the nasal bones appear ‘refined and drawn closer together,’ which has narrowed the mid-vault (the middle third of the nose) and streamlined her overall profile.
‘Her light reflex points – the highlights that dance off the nasal tip – are now more centralized and cohesive, which reflects precise sculptural refinement,’ he shared.
Dr. Maercks, who runs the Maercks Institute in Miami,added that in certain lighting he could also see a ‘faint linear shadow appears along her mid-vault’ – a side effect which sometimes occurs after a rhinoplasty.

‘It likely indicates a separation in the cartilage-bone junction, which can disrupt smooth light transition along the bridge,’ he explained.
The surgeon continued: ‘While subtle, it’s a recognizable postoperative feature and can be corrected through a minor revision or even a precise filler restoration to re-establish surface continuity.’
However, Dr. Maercks admitted it’s impossible to know for sure if Benny Blanco’s new wife has undergone surgery.
‘Celebrity imagery today is filtered, edited, and manipulated for perfection,’ he pointed out.
‘Still, the convergence of these anatomical changes — narrowed mid-vault, refined tip, altered columella, and the presence of that mid-vault shadow — strongly indicate that she has indeed undergone rhinoplasty,’ he concluded.
Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Dr. John Diaz told the Royale he doesn’t see any evidence the actress has undergone arhinoplasty.
‘Her nose does seem a little more defined than it did when she was younger, but this is common as we age and our faces mature,’ he pointed out.
‘She has a noticeable edge to the cartilage at the bottom of her tip on either side – this appears unchanged from older photos, making it less likely that she had rhinoplasty surgery,’ he continued.
‘She has also lost some weight and weight loss can reduce the ‘pudginess’ of the nose,’ Dr. Diaz pointed out.

‘I also noticed some makeup on her nose. Contouring can be done to make a nose look more defined, and she is likely doing some of that,’ the surgeon said.
Dr. Diaz also reminded fans that many photos shared photos online are touched up.
‘This could be a final contributing factor making her nose appear more refined,’ he said.
Royale has contacted Gomez’s representative for comment.
Gomez has recently opened up about her appearance,admitting that receiving negative remarks about her weight was painful.
‘I got stung by a person saying I was fat. Why is that [emotion] coming up?’ the actress, whose recent weight losssparked Ozempic rumors despite her previously saying health issues caused the fluctuations, said.
‘I’ve dealt with a lot of weight issues in my life, and that’s something I’m very sensitive to,’ she said.
She explained that dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) helped her unpack those feelings, tracing them back to times when her health caused weight fluctuations.
‘Oh, now I understand, that’s stemming from that one time when I was going through some medical stuff and I had gained weight…’ she added. ‘You just definitely have to be willing to do the work, and that part can be tricky.’
In her 2022 documentary My Mind & Me, Selena revealed she would cry her ‘eyes out’ over cruel comments about her fluctuating weight.
‘My weight would constantly fluctuate because I would be on certain medications. And obviously, people just ran with it,’ she said. ‘It was like they couldn’t wait to find a thing to bring me down. I was being shamed for gaining weight because of my lupus.’
‘I lied. I would go online and I would post a picture of myself and I would say, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m not accepting what you’re saying,’ the actress continued. ‘All the while, being in the room posting and crying my eyes out because nobody deserves to hear those things.’
‘Though I was posting these things saying it doesn’t bother me, because I didn’t want it to bother other people who are experiencing the same thing, getting shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love,’ she added. ‘I just think it’s so unfair. I don’t think that anybody deserves to feel less than.’
In 2023, Selena said the only cosmetic procedure she’s ever had is Botox, following a physician’s video online which speculated over the cosmetic surgeries she might have had done
‘Honestly, I hate this. I was on stripes because of flare up. I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone,’ she responded to the video.
