Nancy Meyers appears to be totally in the dark about her beloved movie The Holiday getting a TV makeover.
“News to me,” Meyers, 75, wrote via her Instagram Story on Friday, August 1, alongside a news story about the Christmas film becoming a “limited series” at AppleTV+.
The filmmaker added, “Imagine my surprise when I opened Instagram and this was the first post I saw,” with an emoji rubbing its chin in a questioning manner.
News broke on Friday that AppleTV+ is making 2006’s The Holiday into a limited series by rebooting the premise of the movie with new characters, according to Deadline.

The outlet reported that Krissie Ducker is the writer and executive producer on the upcoming series, which will be produced by Bank Pictures. Rob Delaney is set to work as a consultant on the project.
The search is reportedly underway for the leads, which will follow the initial story line of one American and one British woman who trade homes during the holiday season. Deadline added that AppleTV+’s U.K. team is running point on the TV series, which has yet to be greenlit.

While The Holiday has become a holiday classic, the TV reboot announcement found mixed reactions. Some fans are excited for a new iteration of the beloved movie, while others are happy with Meyers’ original version.
“If this has half the charm of the original, we’re in for a treat,” one user wrote via X. “Who else is watching this? Cuz I will,” a second fan tweeted.
In the pro-Meyers camp, one X user wrote, “If Nancy Meyers isn’t involved, I’m protesting Apple (Also why are we doing this???).”
A separate user tweeted, “Nancy Meyers develops believable, authentic characters with well researched backstories. if it’s not giving Nancy Meyers’ pen — keep it.”
Although Meyers isn’t part of The Holiday TV treatment — at least as of now — she has teased a possible movie sequel in the past.
In December 2024, Meyers, who wrote and directed the rom-com, reunited with Law, 52, for lunch and playfully hinted that they should do another film.
Meyers filmed herself asking Law, “Is there going to be a sequel? What do you think?” As Law mulled over the question, he transformed into Mr. Napkin Head from the movie.
The actor pulled a white napkin over his head, placed glasses on top and scratched his chin. “Is that a yes, Jude?” Meyers asked.
