Former MTV star Kim Stolz has made a drastic career change.

The 42-year-old television personality shot to fame in the early noughties as a correspondent for MTV News.

She then went on to appear on the fifth season of America’s Next Top Model in 2005 and feature in numerous modeling campaigns.

Nowadays, Kim’s career couldn’t be further away from the bright lights of fashion and television.

In a new interview, she revealed she is a high-flying private client advisor at Bank of America Private Bank where she manages her uberwealthy clients’ huge fortunes.

‘When you change roles, you need to know that there’s someone in your corner who will help you navigate your way through and support you when you need it,’ she told Business Insider as she detailed her pivot from television to Wall Street.

‘In the end, I’ve loved every minute of it. It takes a lot of the qualities that I think made me successful on Wall Street to begin with, and kind of wraps them all up together in a way.

‘It really harnesses the skills I have acquired throughout my life and my career — even before Wall Street.’

After four years at MTV, Kim realized that she didn’t want to head down the reality television route, so she took some time to think about what she wanted.

Her Wall Street career began after she managed to snag an internship on a trading desk at BTIG.

‘As an intern, I spent time with all the desks,’ she recalled. ‘And after the fifth week, I was offered a role as a trading assistant on the equity derivatives desk.

‘I learned pretty quickly that at a shop like that, you’ve got to network and do business and build it.

‘As soon as I understood the product and I was able to get a little bit more autonomy, I spent the next year or so going to every event I could find and networking 24/7.’

After a few years, she was able to move over to Citi before then landing the role of prime brokerage sales at Bank of America.

Before banking, Kim placed fifth during the fifth cycle of the Tyra Banks-hosted reality show, America’s Next Top Model.

She also made history on the program as the first openly lesbian contestant on the series.

In 2008, AOL Entertainment Canada listed her as one of the most memorable contestants in the show’s history.

And while she didn’t end up winning the contest, she did make every effort to take advantage of the doors it opened.

‘I always wanted to do politics and international relations and to have a life in journalism, but before ANTM I hadn’t ever conceived of doing that on-air,’ she told Autostraddle in 2009.

‘I never cared about fame or aspired to be a public figure, and I still don’t,’ she added.

‘But I do like that I’ve been able to use my tiny amount of fame to change things in some ways and to speak out for equal rights and other political causes.’
