Melania Trump has seemingly paid a subtle nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II during her UK state visit.

The First Lady, 55, commanded attention in a large purple hatby Dior, which appears to have had an underlying message.

Fans of the royalswill know that purple has long been associated with royalty and power, and it seems that Melania opted to wear such an accessory to honor them.

Following the Queen’s death aged 96 on September 8, 2022, numerous landmarks across the globe were lit up in purple in her honor.

In New York City, the Empire State Building was illuminated in the color in special tribute.

Similarly, the Tower Bridge in London was also lit up until for 11 days, until the Queen was laid to rest in her state funeral on September 19.

Meanwhile, purple and platinum were the two colors used for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in the months before her death.

To mark the start of the celebrations, buildings in Australia were lit purple, including the High Court of Australia and the National Library of Australia.

The color of Melania’s accessory was not lost on some eagle-eyed social media users, who pointed out its significance on X, formerly known as Twitter.

One said: ‘Purple for Royalty. That’s my President and his beautiful wife Melania on point as always!’

‘Melania is wearing a purple hat and Trump is wearing a purple tie! I’m gonna faint too!’ another wrote.

‘First Lady Melania Trump looks absolutely regal in that purple hat, a perfect reflection of President Trump’s leadership bringing elegance and strength to the global stage,’ added a third.

Another observed: ‘Notice the purple hat that Melania is wearing and the purple tie that trump has on. Purple means royalty.’

One, however, feared that Melania’s hat took direct aim at the royals.

‘With purple traditionally being a color associated with royalty, was Melania’s hat a subtle dig, emphasizing the global importance of the U.S. over that of the UK?’ they asked.

Body language expert Judi James previously told Royale that Melania’s decision to wear such a big hat for her second UK state visit gives a clear signal that she ‘desires to hide.’

Speaking exclusively to Royale, she said: ‘I’m fascinated to work out why Melania is wearing a similar shaped hat to the one she wore to the inauguration, which forms the shape of a large lid that completely hides her face.

‘For a woman known for her beauty this shape of hat suggests a desire to hide.

‘Royal women will tend to adore the flying saucer style too but will always wear the hat at an acute angle to ensure their faces are totally on display.

‘Melania’s body language so far suggests a more assertive and confident approach to this royal visit than the last one but she also seems to be keen to project a more mysterious aura here on the arrival, as though she is there to support and even help choreograph her husband rather than being the star herself.’
