Pack your bags for Cabot Cove because Jamie Lee Curtis is officially taking on the iconic role of Jessica Fletcher for a new Murder, She Wrote project.

“Oh, it’s … happening,” Curtis, 66, told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, July 23, when asked “what are the chances” the actress could slip into the shoes of Jessica Fletcher (originally played by Angela Lansbury) for a Murder, She Wrote remake.

Curtis confirmed the project is in the works but didn’t reveal whether it’ll be a TV reboot or a movie version. “We’re a minute away. But yeah, very excited. Very excited,” she continued.

The actress — who just reunited with Lindsay Lohan for Freaky Friday’s sequel, Freakier Friday — played coy about what exactly fans can expect from the Murder, She Wrote project.

“She’s a feisty broad, much more so than I am. She’s nosey, she’s perceptive,” Lansbury said of the character in a 1996 60 Minutes interview. “She was athletic. She was fun. She wasn’t a prude. She was outgoing. She was private. She was everything.”

Murder, She Wrote premiered in 1984 and followed professional writer and former teacher Jessica Fletcher (Lansbury) as she used her wit, charm and detective skills to solve case after case in her tiny town of Cabot Cove, Maine.

As the seasons went on — there were 12 in total — Jessica traveled the world and found murder around every corner. She cracked every case no matter how big or small and always did it with a smile.

Lansbury won four Golden Globes and earned 12 Emmy nominations for her work on the show before it went off the air in 1996. Murder, She Wrote has never been far from fans minds as its reruns air on Hallmark Channel and other networks on repeat.

Lansbury also starred in several Murder, She Wrote movies, which could be the version fans will see when Curtis takes the helm, but only time will tell.
