Night at the Museum is being brought back to life in an upcoming reboot.

The original franchise spanned three live-action films: 2006’s Night at the Museum, 2009’s Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and 2014’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Additionally, an animated sequel titled Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again was released in 2022.

Ben Stiller led the ensemble cast in all three live-action adaptations, which also featured appearances from Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs and Robin Williams.

Stiller portrayed night security guard Larry Daley, who was surprised to find that the American Museum of Natural History’s exhibits come alive at night.

Luckily for fans, more museum adventures are in store for a reimagining of the original film via 20th Century Studios.

Others questioned why a reboot of the franchise is necessary.

“Some old franchises don’t need a reboot or a prequel/sequal [sic],” one X user said.

“I absolutely adore Night At The Museum (grew up with it, obviously) but I genuinely think some things need to be let go. What would it even be about? I don’t think it can be THAT good without all the original actors and we know exactly why we wouldn’t have all of them,” another person wrote along with a gif of Williams’ character. (The actor died in 2014.)

“If it’s not Ben’s kid from the first movies grown up & taking over the job for his dad, I don’t want it,” a third person shared.

So far, no official casting announcements have been made.
