If you loved director Andy Muschietti’s IT and IT Chapter Two, you’ve probably been eagerly awaiting HBO’s prequel series.
IT: Welcome to Derry is premiering on October 26 on HBO and HBO Max, and after seeing the trailer, we can’t wait to see Pennywise again (even if we’re more than a little terrified as well).
The show promises to blend all the best elements of the novel and the movies to create a scintillating experience.

‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Has the Same Creative Team as the Hit Films
The 2017 remake of IT has an impressive 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics and fans alike praising how Muschietti developed the characters from the original novel by Stephen King. Bill Skarsgård became an instant phenomenon due to his terrifying portrayal of Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Horror movies may tend to congregate in the fall around October, but scary flicks are always in season. This week, I Know What You Did Last Summer is reviving the classic horror franchise with a sequel that doubles as a remake. It’s too soon to say how that flick will compare with the best summer […]
IT: Welcome to Derry is being directed by Muschietti, with Skarsgård returning as Pennywise and as an executive producer this time around. Thanks to the Swedish actor’s deep understanding of what makes the character so frightening, we expect his creative input to have a significant impact on the tone of the show.
‘Welcome to Derry’ Promises Fascinating Stephen King Crossover Lore
While many of King’s books reference each other, Welcome to Derry promises a greater intermingling of the common lore between his novels. The trailer for Welcome to Derry shows a bus that’s bound for Shawshank State Penitentiary, for example, a name you’ll surely recognize from The Shawshank Redemption. In addition, the character of Dick Halloran from The Shining appears to be a major character in Welcome to Derry, where he is being played by Chris Chalk. Halloran is mentioned in the original novel, but this adaptation will delve further into his relationship to the town of Derry and its missing children.
For King fans, Welcome to Derry promises to be a treasure trove of Easter eggs and references.
