For the first half of 2025, Amazon Prime Video‘s original live-action movies may have veered too heavily into action.
Prime Video is the only streaming service with two completely different new movies featuring the President of the United States as an action hero.
The Watch With Us team has sorted through Amazon’s offerings to present the five best Prime Video movies of 2025, so far.
Unless some of Prime Video’s original films in the latter part of 2025 offer more options for movies, then Prime Video is likely to be shut out of the major awards during the 2026 award season.

5. ‘G20’ (2025)
Viola Davis was Prime Video’s first action president of the year in G20. Davis plays President Danielle Sutton, the most powerful woman in the free world. And yet Danielle can barely keep her daughter, Serena (Marsai Martin), under control. That’s why Danielle brings her entire family to a G20 summit.
Before long, the summit is attacked by terrorists who take several hostages, including Danielle’s husband, Derek Sutton (Anthony Anderson). The leaders of the world need someone to save them, and Danielle is going to have to take matters into her own hands to rescue the hostages and free her husband.

4. ‘Another Simple Favor’ (2025)
Some friendships were never meant to be renewed, but A Simple Favor was popular enough to get a sequel. That’s why Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) is reunited with Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) in Another Simple Favor. Emily isn’t going to let a little thing like Stephanie sending her to prison get in the way of inviting her to a destination wedding in Italy.
Stephanie is right to be wary of Emily’s intentions, especially since Emily’s new fiancé, Dante Versano (Michele Morrone), comes from a crime family. When the dead bodies start piling up, Emily has a rock-solid alibi, while Stephanie is trapped in the country because she was the only eyewitness to one of the murders.

3. ‘Heads of State’ (2025)
Amazon’s second action president movie of the year to date is Heads of State, with John Cena as President Will Derringer. Cena’s The Suicide Squad costar Idris Elba also stars in this film as the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Sam Clarke. Neither Derringer nor Clarke get along, but in the name of solidarity, they agree to travel by plane together.
When their plane is shot down by forces loyal to Russian arms dealer Viktor Gradov (Paddy Considine), Derringer and Clarke are assumed to be dead. Despite the protection of MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra), Derringer and Clark are forced to take up arms and work together to save their own lives and to protect the world from Gradov’s plans

2. ‘Unstoppable’ (2025)
Unstoppable is loosely based on the true story of Anthony Robles, an amateur wrestler with only one leg. Jharrel Jerome‘s take on Robles is electrifying, and he’s got enough stage presence to remain compelling even when playing against his onscreen mother, Jennifer Lopez.
Because of his physical limitations, few believe that Robles can actually compete in high school wrestling. When Robles’ determination powers him to a spot on a college wrestling team, he’ll have to prove that he belongs all over again. It’s an inspirational story, and one of the best sports movies in a long time.

Action, comedy and crime collide in Deep Cover, Prime Video’s best movie of 2025 so far. This film leans heavily on its humor, and it’s frequently hilarious. Bryce Dallas Howard stars as Kat, a frustrated actress/comedian who has resorted to teaching improv to pay her bills.
When DS Billings (Sean Bean) asks Kat to use her improv skills in London’s underground criminal scene, she recruits two of her students: Hugh (Nick Mohammed) and Marlon (Orlando Bloom). Thanks largely to Kat keeping the other two in line, her group of improv performers successfully infiltrates criminal gatherings. Unfortunately, the trio is also in too deep to be easily pulled away from the local crime boss, Metcalfe (Ian McShane). Instead, the team’s escalating lies leave them in very awkward and vulnerable situations.
