Queen Mary of Denmarkhas issued an amusing verdict on her eldest daughter’s act of rebellion at a local music festival earlier this month.
Princess Isabella, 18, waspictured atSmukfest on August 7wearing a black t-shirt emblazoned with a slogan in Danish that translates as ‘f***** him yesterday’.The bold message was accompanied by an arrow pointing to the side.
Isabella’s top was merchandise for hip hop group Suspekt, who were performing at Smukfest and are known for their explicit, sexually-charged lyrics, but the royal’s choice of attire still made headlines around the world.
At the time, Danish political commentator Jarl Cordua saidthat while he understood the need for ‘royals letting loose a little’, he also believed there were ‘limits’ – and that the distasteful shirt crossed the line.
Mother-of-four Mary, 53, belatedly addressed Isabella’s t-shirt yesterdayin a lighthearted interview with Danish television channel TV 2 filmed inSamsø, where she was accompanied by husband King Frederik X, 57.
According to BILLED-BLADET, the Australian-born queen cheerfully quipped: ‘My first thought was – is she completely gone?’
Mary added: ‘Let’s put it this way, some decisions are better than others.’
The Danish weekly entertainment and royal magazine linked Mary’s response back to a remark Isabella herself had made at her brother Crown Prince Christian’s confirmation in 2021.

The royal family were posing for photographs on the steps ofFredensborg Palace when Isabella, who was 14 at the time, was urged to follow her grandmother Queen Margrethe up the stairs.
When the teenage princess was halfway up the flight, however, her mother asked her to come back down for more photos.
At the time, the feisty young Isabella was caught on camera replying: ‘Did you not say I should go with Grandma? Are you completely confused?’
In a speech to mark her 18th birthday April of this year, Isabella referred back to the comment, admitting: ‘Almost four years ago, I found out that your words can be overheard when you least expect it.Today, I have no doubt that the microphone is on.’
Currently enjoying their annual summer tour of Denmark, making stops at various towns for press opportunities and royal meet and greets, Isabella’s parents have showed themselves to be relaxed and relatable in recent days.
And, an innocent question posed byMary to her husband proved that romance is alive and well in their 21-year marriage.
There was one moment in particular during their visit to the Frederikshavn Municipality this week that highlighted the playful nature of the couple’s relationship.
The first stop saw Mary and Frederik enjoy a barefoot walk along the sand dunes duringa visit to Råbjerg Mile.

There, the royal couple were met by photographers – and happily stopped to pose for a picture. Frederik and Mary dutifully wrapped their arms around each other and put on a smile for the cameras.
According to BILLED-BLADET,there was a hush as the photographers snapped away.
So, the queen took it upon herself to break the awkward silence by asking a cheeky question. ‘Shall we kiss?’ Queen Mary asked King Frederik.
The unexpected impulse quickly saw King Frederik give a broad smile and a burst of laughter.
Yet, to the disappointment of the photographers, the royals didn’t stage an on-camera kiss.
But the surprise suggestion from the mother-of-four added instant levity to the otherwise formal atmosphere of the press call.
And the quirky comment resulted in a series of gorgeous and relaxed snaps of the king and queen.
Mary – who was casually dressed in a layered blue sweater over a linen blue shirt and tan culottes – looked instantly at ease following her impromptu suggestion.

With her hair tied back and sunglasses over her eyes, the Queen appeared visibly comfortable and relaxed.
Meanwhile, Frederik, who was wearing a bold orange puffer vest over a checked collared shirt and khaki pants, also appeared to loosen up following his wife’s unexpected comment.
The unscripted moment offered a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the royal couple’s relationship dynamic.
This was evident as both Mary and Frederik continued to lovingly wrap their arms around one another in front of the photographers.
