The Devil Wears Prada 2 story line is already looking promising for Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs.
Patrick Brammall has joined the sequel as the leading man in Andy’s life, Entertainment Weekly reported on Monday, July 21. Brammall, 49, is an Australian actor perhaps best known for his roles in Colin From Accounts, Call Your Mother, No Activity and Evil.
The outlet previously revealed that Adrian Grenier, who portrayed Andy’s boyfriend Nate in the original 2006 film, was not reprising his role in the long-awaited sequel.
Grenier’s character has been widely debated by fans, some of whom have called him the real villain of the movie after hindering Andy from reaching her full career potential. He addressed the fan chatter 15 years after the film’s release, agreeing that Nate’s attitude and pessimism was definitely a problem in his relationship with Andy.

The news that a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is in the works has sent a ripple of excitement and panic through social media, almost as if Miranda Priestly herself is about to enter the room but somebody’s forgotten to correctly position the San Pellegrino. “When that whole thing [about Nate being the ‘real villain’ of the film] first came out, I couldn’t get my head around it. I didn’t understand it. Perhaps it was because I wasn’t mature as a man, just as Nate probably could’ve used a little growing up,” Grenier, 49, told EW in June 2021. “I was just as immature as him at the time, so I couldn’t see his shortcomings, but, after taking time to reflect and much deliberation online, I can realize the truth in that perspective. Nate hadn’t grown up, but Andy had … she needed more out of life, and she was achieving it.”
Andy and Nate ended up breaking up before the movie’s end as she continued to rise up the ranks at the highly coveted Runway magazine. He revealed to her that he got a new job as a sous-chef at a restaurant in Boston, and he and Andy agreed to be friends, closing the door on their romance for good.

“He couldn’t support her like she needed because he was a fragile, wounded boy,” Grenier said of his controversial character. “On behalf of all the Nates out there: Come on! Step it up!”
